A methodical response to flood events, covering everything from water removal to sanitizing the spaces it touched.
A flood behaves differently than a small indoor leak. Floodwater usually carries silt, debris, and outside contaminants straight into a home or business, so cleanup takes more than just pulling water out. TotalRestore Solutions has managed flood cleanup projects across Lakewood Ranch, FL for 15 years, coordinating extraction, cleaning, and drying to bring a flooded property back to a safe, usable state.
We start by removing standing water along with any debris it brought with it, whether that's mud, plant matter, or loose material from outside. Floodwater is usually treated as contaminated, so affected surfaces get cleaned and sanitized rather than just dried out, and porous materials that can't be properly cleaned, like soaked carpet padding or insulation, are generally pulled out and discarded.
With surfaces cleaned, drying equipment goes up throughout the affected area. Air movers keep air circulating across wet surfaces while dehumidifiers pull the resulting moisture out of the air, working as a pair to bring humidity back down to a normal range. We track that progress with moisture meters instead of judging by eye, since a surface can look dry while walls or subfloors underneath are still holding moisture.
A flood can hit several rooms or an entire lower level at once, which changes how we run the cleanup. Our team maps out every affected area, prioritizes rooms based on how much water got in, and works through the property in a set order so nothing gets skipped. We keep property owners updated at each stage, from the first extraction through the final moisture check.

Yes. Floodwater often carries outside contaminants like silt and debris, so it typically needs cleaning and sanitizing in addition to drying.
It depends on how many rooms were affected and how much material soaked up water, but drying equipment often runs for several days to bring humidity fully back down.
